Buques

I did this story for the issue 89 of Strapazin (2007), dedicated to navigation. A marine terror story which idea came from one of the chapters of "The map of darkness" (a book that I wrote in the 90's and never got to draw). "Twin ships" was published in spanish in the first issue of "Desde el abismo" (Viaje a Bizancio ediciones, 2008) together with one of my best interviews ever (by Yorkshire and on purpose of Marco Denevi's book Ein Hund auf Albrecht Dürers Stich "Ritter, Tod und Teufel", illustrated by me.)

This page is from the story I was asked to do for the recently published Strapazin#107, a monographic issue on "mountains". I did a six pages piece called "Berggeister" (mountain spirits) and while I was working on the script I realized that it could perfectly fit in one of the still-not-finished chapters of "Vapor", my next book. So this page will be page 51 in "Vapor". Of which, by the way, I've got only 16 pages left to do now to reach the end.

In 2004 I was asked to make a page on music for the swiss comic magazine Strapazin. A few months later, el Víbora asked me to do a goodbye page for its last number. Not easy at all: it took pains to try to do something that might express the emotions I felt towards the disappearance of the magazine in which I grew up as an author in the 80's. In a last minute act of desperation before the deadline, I came up with the idea to take the Strapazin page, reframe it and change the text. You can compare both here.

To follow with Strapazin, I coordinated their issue 74 (2004), dedicated to spanish artists, and did the cover for it. If you blow it up you'll notice that I used a pattern of irregular dots, in a weak attempt to imitate the dot pattern used in lithographic printing at the beginning of 20th century, but I think the result was quite "vibrating". Just in case this didn't work out, I did a second version in flat colours, which is quite nice too. By the way, at the Strapazin web they have some funny games based on drawings. You can find mine here, on game 2.

Columnas (3)

This is the silkscreen print I did for the great magazine Strapazin (Zurich). "Evek" doesn't mean a thing, but I just needed to put some letters in there and I chose them according to its form and its sound.
