Te echaré a faltar, tío.
Berenguer was my publisher for 32 years. Also, during most of the time, a friend. He created el Víbora, a comic magazine without which spanish comics would be, even today, something else. And without which I can't imagine what would my life have been like. The first 4 years of el Víbora were the best of my life as a cartoonist: a brutal learning in fun and intensity. And it is not by hazard that I'm still today with La Cúpula: I haven't found another publisher like Berenguer, both human and professionally. We had sometimes our disagreements in the past, but mutual trust and complicity had been restored many years ago. And I can only thank him for his support, my work wouldn't be the same without him, without his firm commitment to freedom and irreverence. Because Berenguer was, above all, an irreverent, and has been until the end. As irreverent as the admirable farewell ceremony organized by his son and daughters at the morgue on wednesday. Gallardo spoke, very well, on behalf of the cartoonists. I just had a drink of the whiskey offered to us all and drew a Bardin on the coffin, casually waving goodbye. I'll be missing you, man.
