El mapa

El mapa de esquinas territoriales que dibujé para la exposición Ciudades, esquinas, que Manuel de Solá-Morales comisarió para el Forum de les Cultures de Barcelona en 2004. El mapa completo medía seis metros de ancho. Me llevó varios meses de trabajo, y Tomeu Morey me echó una mano con parte del paisaje.

The map of territorial corners that I drew for the exhibition Cities, corners, that Manuel de Solá-Morales curated for the Barcelona Forum in 2004. The whole map (first image) was 6 mts. wide. I needed some months to do the job, and Tomeu Morey gave me a hand with part of the landscape. The second image is a blow up of the upper left corner, with a sample of the original map by Solá-Morales from which I started to work. The third is a blow up of the blow up (Shibuya Square in Tokyo), and the last image is a gas station in the desert (upper center in the map).

Manuel de Solá-Morales

Manuel de Solá-Morales, arquitecto, profesor y creador del Laboratori d'Urbanisme de Barcelona falleció el pasado 27 de febrero. Tuve el placer de tratarlo y de aprender mucho a su lado trabajando a partir de sus ideas en un gigantesco dibujo mural para la exposición Ciudades, esquinas que él comisarió para el Fórum de les Cultures 2004 de Barcelona. Ahora la revista D'UR le dedica un número de homenaje, para el cual he hecho este dibujo.

Manuel de Solá-Morales, architect, professor and founder of the Barcelona Urbanism Laboratory passed away on february 27th. I had the pleasure to meet him and learn a lot by his side working from his ideas on a giant mural drawing for the exhibition Cities, corners, which he curated for the Barcelona Forum 2004. Now the magazine D'UR pays hommage to him on a special issue for which I've done this drawing.
